Description Diano is a proven unani formulation for diabetes. The main ingredient of Diano is Gymnema (Gymnema sylvestre) is also called gurmar, which is a Hindi name meaning �destroyer of sugar.� Gymnema sylvestre is a woody plant growing in Africa, Australia, and South and Central India, which is useful for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. This plant has been mentioned in the ancient Indian texts of Ayurveda as �Madhunashini�. Gymnema sylvestre (Gurmarbuti) contains gymnenic acid and antisaccharine properties, According to Mhaskar and Caius (1930) the leaves cause hypoglycemia in experimental animal which sets in soon after the administration either by mouth or by injection. "Gurmarin" another constituents of the leaves and gymnemic acid have been shown to block sweet fasten in humans. Diano corrects the functions of pancreas & stimulates insulin secretion. Gurmar has been shown to reduce blood sugar levels through increasing production of insulin.
